At least three injured in head-on collision

<p dir="ltr"><span>An Aug. 26 head-on collision sent at least three people to the hospital, according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office crash report released Wednesday.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>A 1996 Chevrolet S-10, driven by 56-year-old Charles Schaefer, of Coulterville was traveling southbound on Prest Road and stopped at the stop sign at State Route 13.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Schaefer told responding law enforcement that he was making a wide right turn to travel westbound onto Route 13 when his vehicle entered the eastbound lane.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The S-10 then struck a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, driven by 35-year-old Brandy Hancock of Coulterville, head on in the eastbound lane.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Schaefer and one of his passengers, 44-year-old Melanie Downen of Tilden, were transported to Sparta Community Hospital, as was Hancock.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The accident report states another passenger in Schaefer's vehicle left the scene before they could be identified at the time of the report.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The accident was reported at 11 p.m. with Deputy Kyle Colvis responding. There were no listed citations in the accident.</span>
