MiCasa set to open in Steeleville
Getting your MiCasa fix has become a lot easier as the new Steeleville location will celebrate its grand opening on Friday.
MiCasa Sub Shop's location in the old Flowers Unlimited shop on West Broadway Street is now its second in Randolph County.
"All I hear is good things about the Steeleville community," said MiCasa owner Nina Hille, who also has a MiCasa store in Sparta. "People are very involved. A lot of sports and activities.
"Anytime they have benefits, they're very well-received and a lot of people participate. I love that aspect of it."
Tentative hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
"We're, right now, keeping the hours open-ended to see what works best for Steeleville," Hille said. "We are looking forward to being open for special events."
Friday's specials are a half Italian beef sub with chips and a drink for $8.25 and a turkey/Swiss cheese wrap with chips and a drink for $8.95.
"We really kept to keeping it simple," Hille said. "If you keep it simple and focus on excellent customer service and a good product, people will keep returning.
"We will continue to provide an atmosphere for people that will be clean and friendly."
Hille said MiCasa's biggest sellers are The Monster (ham, turkey, salami, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayonnaise and house dressing), The Daddy (roast beef, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayonnaise and horseradish sauce) and The Club (ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise).
"Those are our top three biggest sellers, but you can build your own," Hille said. "But there's people who come in and don't want to have to figure it out."
Other features Hille is proud of is MiCasa's handmade bread and fresh ingredients.
"Everybody's got their own piece of bread that's been hand-rolled each day," she said. "We focus on fresh ingredients and everything being made in-house.
"We clean all of our own produce and cut our own meat and cheese."
As far as staffing, Hille said she has hired four new employees to help with the expansion.
"We hired four new people and they're not just from Steeleville," she said. "What we'd like to do, so that it stays consistent, is have people who work both places."
Customers can also enjoy free Wi-Fi as well and Hille said MiCasa also does catering and delivery of large orders with 24 hour notice.
"We deliver with 24 hour notice and you have to have 10 subs or more or 10 salads or more," she said.
Hille was asked what she has learned from the Sparta location in opening the Steeleville location.
"I would take everything we do (in Sparta) and try and duplicate it at the Steeleville location," she said. "Giving people excellent customer service and a great product for their money."
