Ellis Grove resident involved in rollover

A 20-year-old Ellis Grove man was involved in a single-vehicle rollover on Kaskaskia Street at Shawneetown Trail near the Warden's Home on Feb. 11.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office crash report, Patrick Bowen was traveling south on Kaskaskia Street in a 1992 Nissan Sentra when the vehicle left the roadway on the left side, struck an embankment - causing damage to a high-pressure natural gas line owned by the City of Chester - overturned and came to rest on its roof.

Bowen was transported to Chester Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Randolph County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Jarrod Peters told the Herald Tribune that his office received a call from the hospital that Bowen had been transferred to St. Louis University.

His condition is unknown at this time.

Firefighters with the Chester Fire Department were paged at 4:18 p.m. for the accident, which was reported four minutes earlier. The Chester Gas Department responded to repair the leak.

Bowen was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving without insurance. Deputy Cody Mueller responded to the accident.
