The board also approved Medina Renner as assistant junior high volleyball coach at Steeleville Elementary School.
Jennifer Haertling, Steeleville High School principal and assistant district superintendent, gave the board some updates on curriculum matters.
"We're working on a ceramics and sculpture class," Haertling told the Herald Tribune on Monday. "Startup costs would be provided by the Art Society."
Haertling said SHS art teacher Allison Roehrig submitted the proposal, along with a proposal for a photography and graphic design class. The board is anticipated to bring up the proposals at next month's meeting.
"We'll bring a more detailed description to the board in February to make a decision," Haertling said.
Haertling also reported on the possibility of offering physics every year if there is enough student interest. Currently, the class is offered every other year with a requirement of completion of Algebra II.
Haertling also noted plans are in progress to begin teaching keyboarding at the fifth grade level.
"We would continue to teach keyboarding at the high school until fifth grade reached freshman year," she said.
Another item slated for the Feb. 15 meeting will be discussing different classes, one of which is horticulture, for the district's agriculture program.
