Rotary governor talks about promotion

Rotary District 6510 Governor Janice Alka of Mount Carmel spokes to the Chester Rotary Aug. 15 about enhancing the public image of Rotary by making people more aware of Rotary service throughout the district, the state, America and around the world.

As an example, Rotary International, for many years, has taken a prominent step in working toward the eradication of polio throughout the world, as well as the building of water wells in Malawi, Africa.

Locally, the Chester Rotary provides an annual scholarship to a Chester High School graduating senior and pays for local bands to participate in the annual Popeye Picnic Parade. In addition, the club supports projects of the Chester Public Library and provides annual cash gifts to all three Chester elementary schools.

During the current club year, the Chester Rotary plans to enhance their involvement at Chester schools.
