Marshall Browning to sponsor Community Health Fair
Marshall Browning Hospital will be sponsoring a Community Health Fair on Saturday, April 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
As a reminder, anyone wanting to have lab screenings must do so prior to the Health Fair. The lab screenings are valued at $900 and are being offered for $30 (cash only) as our way of giving back to the community. All lab testing will be done from April 11 - 24. During this time, Health Fair labs will be drawn in the Medical Clinic (across from the hospital). Lab testing hours for the Health Fair will be Monday - Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and on Saturday, April 18 from 7:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Results from the lab testing will be available at the Health Fair on April 25 with providers available to meet with individuals to explain their results. Lab screenings include a Complete Metabolic Profile, Complete Blood Count, Lipid Profile (Cholesterol, Triglycerides, LDL, HDL), Thyroid Function Screen (TSH), Diabetic Screen (Ha1C), and Prostate Cancer Screen (PSA) for men. It is recommended that individuals do not eat or drink for six hours prior to testing. Appointments are not necessary.
Many FREE screenings and services will be available at the Health Fair on April 25 including Blood Pressure, Pulse, Oxygen Saturation, Hearing Screenings provided by the Lion's Club, Pulmonary Function, Body Mass Index, Balance Test, Sleep Apnea Screen, Brown Bag (bring your medications and discuss with pharmacist), Chair Massage and Pre-Diabetic and Diabetic counseling provided by Gail Peterman, Certified Diabetes Educator.
There will be many services for children including reduced fee dental screenings provided by Dental Safari. The dental screenings will be offered for children ages 0-19 years old and will include exam, cleaning, fluoride and sealant. Dental Safari accepts medical cards, private insurance with no co-pay, and offers a grant for a reduced fee for those with no medical card or insurance. In addition free child ID will be provided by Perry County Sheriff's Office, Gun Safety for Children provided by Du Quoin Police Dept., Car Seat Safety information by the Perry County Health Dept, Bicycle Safety, and Hand Hygiene. The bicycle safety will include a chance to win a new bicycle. There will be tours of the Arch Medical Helicopter and ambulance.
Attendees will have the opportunity to visit over 30 informational booths which will be located in the medical clinic, hospital, rehab and the independent living facility. There will be six-passenger golf carts to transport attendees to each of the buildings. For those who visit each building, their names will be included in a drawing for a grand prize.
