Pinckneyville council votes change in workers' comp policy
The Pinckneyville City Council renewed their worker's compensation insurance through Arthur J. Gallager and Co., opting to go with a new carrier at a cost of $154,617.
The city was offered two options, the first with their current carrier, Trident Hanover, Maxum and Illinois Public Risk Fund at a cost of $161,330 and the second for $154,617 with Brit, Hanover, Maxum and IPRF.
Due to the city's loss experience their worker's compensation insurance has risen 9.6 percent.
The city will receive a $4,721 grant through IPRF on the new plan, which runs from Dec. 31, 2014 through Dec. 30, 2015.
In other business, the council:
• authorized Mayor August Kellerman to sign a letter of understanding with IDOT to install a roundabout at the intersection of Illinois 13 and 154 on the west side of town.
• placed file for public inspection the 2015 annual motor fuel tax program which appropriates $206,000 in motor fuel tax funds for street maintenance.
• approved the purchase of three barrels of Excalibur 4-4 mosquito spray at a costar of $2,300 per barrel. Commissioner Sam Fulk said purchasing early saves $350 per barrel.
• accepted a letter of resignation from the Pinckneyville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners from Austin Marlow.
• approved the municipal calendar for 2015. The City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of the month at City Hall. When the second or fourth Monday is a holiday, the council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
• heard from Treasurer Rick Reese that the city had $811,694 in unrestricted funds as of Nov. 30. Pinckneyville had a balance of $989,257 at the same time last year.
