Pinckneyville Hospital progress continues

Work on the new Pinckneyville Community Hospital remains on track for substantial completion in May 2015.

Site Superintendent Jimmie Hunter said work on the final part of the roof began Tuesday, Dec. 9 and should be completed this week.

The concrete under the ER canopy and at the main entrance will be poured soon. However, the weather has been too wet and too cold to pour the south and west parking lots.

Hunter said the south parking lot must be poured by the end of March for things to remain on track. He is keeping a close eye on the weather. Grading work is still ongoing in the west employee parking lot. It should be ready to pour when the weather breaks.

The project is broken into seven interior sections: A South, A North, B South, B North, C South, C North and D. Hunter said there have been minor delays in some sections, but that should not affect the outcome of the project. All drywall should be complete by the end of January- prior to the next IDPH inspection which should occur in late January or early February.

Cost for the new facility is $25,939,015. There is a $175,000 reserve fund to be used when installing vinyl flooring. Some of those funds may be put to use soon.

Plans for the move will be submitted to IDPH in January for their approval. Non-hospital services may move before a certificate of occupancy is issued. There is a six-week window between substantial completion and IDPH issuing the certificate.
