A Tuesday afternoon wreck in uptown Chester sent one to the hospital with unknown injuries.
According to Chester Fire Chief Marty Bert, a vehicle driven by an unknown male failed to stop at the four-way intersection by Stallman True Value Hardware and went underneath a tractor-trailer.
The collision caused the vehicle to lose its roof and the vehicle continued traveling west along Swanwick Street until colliding with a utility pole in front of the Gilster-Mary Lee facility.
"I don't think the tractor-trailer stopped," said Bert, who added extrication was performed. "We couldn't find it. It's amazing (the vehicle) made it another block and a half without hitting anybody."
Witnesses at the scene reported the driver was unconscious when first responders reached him and regained consciousness while being administered medical treatment.
Bert said the car's roof was left at the four-way stop.
"The whole intersection was filled with glass," he said. "Everything shattered."
The Herald Tribune will have more information as it becomes available.
