PCH offers classes to prepare children for kindergarten
Starting kindergarten is a milestone in the life of a child and Pinckneyville Community Hospital wants to help make it a positive experience. They are offering a free week-long class taught by staff at SIR/Fitness.
Occupational and speech therapy staff will work with the children on basics such as the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, rhyming, matching, similarities and differences. They will also discuss expected behaviors such as raising their hand, standing in line, taking turns and "personal space" among many more. Children will be taught how to recognize and write their name and a few basic words. They will also touch on subjects such as reading.
The class is Monday, July 28- Friday, Aug. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at S.I.R./Fitness in Pinckneyville.
There will be a repeat session available Monday, Aug. 4- Friday, Aug. 8. Call 357-2187 ext. 3959 to register. Class size is limited. This event is part of the hospital's community education series.
