Murphysboro woman flees hold-up scene after clerk brandishes taser

A Murphysboro woman identified as Jo Lynn Gentry is in custody in connection with a failed armed robbery at the Amstar gas mart in Murphysboro.

She is now charged with attempted armed robbery.

Murphysboro police say a woman entered the Amstar gas station on Walnut Street Saturday night, displayed a knife and told the cashier to give her "all the money."

The cashier showed a taser device and told her to put her knife away and leave the store.

Gentry fled the store and went back to her home where she was arrested.

In recent days, police have made several arrests in connection with recent gas mart robberies, including three juveniles (please turn to Page 3 for details).
