Two arrested in Elkville burglary probe
Elkville police investigated more than a dozen reports of auto burglary, criminal damage to property and one residential burglary in recent days.
After the investigation two suspects- Mathew J. Kelley, 23, and a 17-year-old juvenile, both from Elkville, were arrested and charged with one count of residential burglary, 14 counts of auto burglary and two counts of criminal damage to property.
Kelley has been incarcerated at the Jackson County Jail and the juvenile has been incarcerated in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Facility.
Police recovered nearly all of the property that was stolen and after the case has gone to trial the property can be returned to its rightful owners. The investigation is ongoing and more charges and arrests are anticipated.
Elkville Police were assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, DeSoto Police Department and Du Quoin Police Department.
