58 pounds of prescription drugs turned in Saturday

Du Quoin Chief of Police Jamie Ellermeyer said this morning that 58 pounds of prescription drugs were turned into the Du Quoin Police Department by area residents between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The collection was part of a the DEA's national "Drug Take Back Day."

Chief Ellermeyer said it was the largest collection day held at the department.

He extended his appreciation to those who helped with the collection and to the townspeople for getting old and discarded prescription drugs out of their medicine cabinets.
