Agents Predict Another Good Year for County's Self-Insured Health Plan
Jason Snedeker of Snedeker Risk Management asked the board to consider renewing their property/casualty and worker's compensation insurance at a one percent increase over the previous year. Snedeker said the county has added $7-8 million in property to their insurance plan following a recent audit. As a result, Perry County now insures more than $10 million in property. The property/casualty insurance deductible will increase from $1,000 to $2,500. If the board prefers the lower deductible, the premium will go up $1,600.
Snedeker reported that the county's self-funded health plan cost $921,000 in 2011 and is on track to cost $950,000 this year, give or take $20,000. He expects a five to 10 percent cost increase next year.
Perry County will also see a seven percent increase in the Standard Life insurance program. The life insurance renews automatically unless the board chooses to change or cancel coverage.
