Du Quoin Driver Sideswipes One House, Hits Another

Officer Steve Ingram of the Du Quoin Police Department Saturday investigated this accident scene at 9:06 a.m. in the 300 block of East Main Street where an eastbound driver left the street, drove through the yard of the Gerry Whitley family at 360 East Main Street and took out a small tree in front of his flag pole, then continued eastbound and tore out the wrought iron railings on the Jeremy Cornett home at 368 East Main Street. After sideswiping that home, the car finally came to rest when it hit the front porch at the Rachel Ridgeway home at 372 East Main Street. The driver was identified as Dillan K. Stacey of Du Quoin. His car received moderate damage. Both airbags deployed. Stacey was taken by a family member to Marshall Browning Hospital, then transferred to Memorial Hospital. No cause has been determined, but Stacy was cited for improper lane usage and no valid driver's license.
