Du Quoin Mayor in Carbondale Hospital for Tests

After giving the welcome at Saturday's Civil War Memorial in Keyes Park, Du Quoin Mayor John Rednour entered Marshall Browning Hospital Sunday and was later transferred to the Prairie Heart Institute at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale for tests after experiencing chest discomfort.

Family members say doctors will keep the mayor in the hospital through Tuesday and he will miss tonight's Du Quoin City Council meeting where a new city administrator is expected to be named.

The mayor has undergone treatment in the past for arrhythmia, also known as an irregular heart beat. Sunday evening he was feeling fine and looking forward to his discharge from the hospital.
