CHS Athletic Director releases list of the award winners

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[It was a busy spring sports schedule at Chester High School and add in a couple of non-sporting events and finding a night to host the Chester High School Year End Sports Awards Banquet was impossible.

However, CHS Athletic Director Mike Coffey has released the list of the award winners.

Lauren Hoops picked up the "A" Gamers award which is sponsored by Don Daschka and presented to the top senior softball player.

Jenna Wingerter and Zach Sternberg were named recipients of the Jeff Brown Memorial Track Award. The Jeff Brown Memorial Track Award is presented each year to an outstanding senior boy and girl track athlete.

The Dick Roth Memorial Sportsmanship award was presented to Emily Reid and Greg Rowold. The Dick Roth Memorial Baseball Campership award was presented to Boyd Miles.

The Mike McLean award is presented to the top football player each year and Tyler Chandler was the recipient this year.

The Fritz Roth Memorial award was presented to Matt Heberlie. That award honors a multi-sport senior athlete.

The Chester Booster Club Most Valuable Players are seniors Matt Heberlie and Shelby Long.

During honors night, Megan Marcinkowska was presented the Scott Egge Memorial Award.

A couple of years ago, these awards were presented as part of Honors Night but Coffey decided to host a banquet specifically for the sports award winners. However he says given the difficulty he had this past spring trying to find a quiet night on the May calendar to host the event, chances are good the awards will return as part of Honors Night in May 2013.
