SWIMMING: Indians reel in Marlins 429-268

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Du Quoin continued to find success in the pool in Tuesday, bettering Marion on points 429-268 with four different Swimming Indians winning five events each. Three Du Quoin team records were also set or improved upon at the home meet.

Lauren Heape (girls 7-8), Haley Kuhnert (girls 13-14), Trae Horn (boys 7-8) and Jerry Kuhnert (boys 15-18) each went five-for-five to lead the Indians against the Marlins. Each won three solo races and both relays they entered on Tuesday evening.

Jerry Kuhnert's winning time of 1:06.54 in the 100m individual medley trimmed over a full second off of the Indians team record he already owned in the event. Kuhnert also joined Caseton Luthy, Cody Bailey and Trevor Jones on the record-setting boys 15-18 200m freestyle team that won in 1:48.75 (previous record 1:51.39, 2010).

Olivia Cravens (girls 11-12) improved her team-best time in the 100m freestyle, finishing in 1:05.38. Cravens won two individual events on Tuesday, adding two additional wins as part of relay teams.

Other Swimming Indians with four total wins against Marion included Lauren Cravens (girls 9-10), Amelia McLain (girls 9-10), Caleb Gomes (boys 13-14) and Trevor Jones (boys 15-18).

Rylie Day (girls 6&un), Courtney Rudloff (girls 15-18), Cooper Rice (boys 6&un), and Paxton Higgerson (boys 11-12) each won a pair of solo races on Tuesday.

The Swimming Indians are at Salem on Thursday before heading to Herrin on Saturday for an Invitational.
