Remodeled Conference Room in Government Building to Be Finished before Next Regular Board Meeting

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Work on the meeting room in the County Government Building continues. Commissioner Sam Robb Atkins Flooring will install the new carpet. Atkins was the low bidder at $1,000. Painting has been completed and Robb will ask Kellerman Brothers to hang the plat map and plaques on the walls.

County Clerk Kevin Kern said that he has ordered an additional 12 chairs, bringing the available seating to 30 chairs for the audience.

Board Chairman Bobby Kelly asked Jeff Ashauer to have a leak in the women&#39;s restroom repaired.

In other business, the board:

approved a contract with the City of Pinckneyville for police and fire dispatching. The contract runs from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013; it is a one-year renewal at the same price of $21,960 per year.

approved a contract with Perry County Construction Company to replace a bridge on Sassafras Road. Total price on the project is $205,000. County Engineer Brian Otten said the bridge replacement addresses alignment, structural and safety issues.

passed a resolution appointing Bill Place to the Emergency Telephone System Board to fill the remaining portion of a term which expires Jan. 31, 2014.

heard from EMA Coordinator David Searby Jr. that the county will receive a $18,314 performance grant. The board also passed a resolution approving an EMA intergovernmental agreement for mutual aid with Randolph County

heard from Solid Waste Coordinator Becky Tracy that the June 30 electronic recycling program was a success. More than 15 tons of electronic equipment was collected, most of it televisions. Tracy said the total cost for the county is around $300. Due to the new law prohibiting disposal of electronic equipment in landfills, she might work with Vintage Tech to hold two collections a year. The board also passed a resolution approving a solid waste management grant agreement with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Tracy said she submits her expenses on a quarterly basis and the county is reimbursed for 51.81 percent of the money spent up to $36,169.

heard from Treasurer Bill Taylor that he will begin paying 13.38 percent to IMRF instead of phasing in a rate increase over time. Taylor said the county&#39;s IMRF is in good shape, but paying the higher rate now may reduce future contribution increases should the stock market crash again.
