Planning Meeting Monday for Perez Benefit
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Friends of Jorge Perez, who is recovering from head injuries during a workplace altercation last April, will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday night at the American Legion in Du Quoin to plan a benefit for he and is family.
Tentatively, the benefit will be held Saturday, August 4 at the American Legion with a silent auction, your choice of barbecue or Italian beef, homemade potato salad and dessert. The newspaper will provide complete information after Monday's meeting.
Perez did not have insurance. Because of that, he hasn't been accepted into rehab. For now, the family is caring for Perez. He'll go back to St. Louis in four months for surgery to put back the piece of his skull.
