Jackson County Issues Burn Ban
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Jackson County Board Chairman John Evans has issued a burn ban effective immediately for Jackson County. The continued drought has created a situation where any outdoor fires can quickly spread to uncontrollable proportions, threatening public safety and taxing firefighting resources. While most fireworks are illegal in Illinois, even legally possessed fireworks produce sparks which can ignite a grass or brush fire. Most fire departments within Jackson County have already issued burn bans for their specific jurisdictions. The ban will remain in effect until the area receives significant rainfall.
