BASEBALL: Bigham, offense push Jr. #1 over #2
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Cole Bigham gave up just two hits and two walks and the offense did the rest for Pinckneyville-Du Quoin's Junior American Legion #1 team as they knocked off the co-op's younger #2 team 10-0 in five innings on Wednesday.
Brendon Shepard's RBI single to bring in A.J. Smith in the bottom of the first gave #1 a 1-0 lead, but the game would remain close until the bottom of the third. Two errors and two walks opened the door for a five-run inning for team #1 with a pair of RBI coming in on Adam Banach's one-out triple.
Nolan Luke added two RBI's in the fifth to complete the short game victory.
Caulden Lazenby (1-3) and Justin Bauersachs (1-2) had the only hits for P-DQ #2. Braden Kitowski took the loss with five earned runs on eight hits and three walks, striking out five.
For #1, Banach (2-2, 2 R, 3B, HBP, 2 RBI) had two hits to lead the way at the plate. Smith (1-3, R), Shepard (1-3, R, RBI), Luke (1-1, 2 RBI), Justyn Rushing (1-3), Joey Burris (1-2, R, HBP) and Brayden Cowley (1-1, R) also hit safely. The left-hander Bigham fanned five in the complete game victory.
Junior team #1 hosts Orient on Thursday, team #2 travels to Orient on Saturday.
