ATA makes donation to SIYSSA

SPARTA - Amateur Trapshooting Association Executive Director Lynn Gipson presents a $2,250 contribution to Southern Illinois Youth Shooting Sports Association (SIYSSA) President Kimberly Gordon bringing the three year total donation to $7,000.

Three years ago the ATA initiated the Southern Illinois Patrons of Youth Trapshooting program to provide local and regional businesses, individuals and government entities an opportunity to support not only the ATA's AIM Youth Program, but also young trapshooters from the area.

A portion of the funds donated by the "Patrons" are returned annually to SIYSSA to be used to further their efforts and activities. Organized in 2013, SIYSSA membership includes over 200 local and regional youth athletes representing 18 different schools and organizations. SIYSSA will host seven ATA registered trapshooting competitions between now and next June at the World Shooting Complex and the Rend Lake Shooting Complex. Alumni of the SIYSSA program include world champions Kendall

Diercks of Sparta and Ian Lawrence of Herrin. Lawrence is a three time All American trapshooter and was Captain of the national Sub-Junior All American team in 2017.
