Judge Campanella Grants Bench Trial for Glazier
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Honorable Judge James Campanella has granted the counsel for Pinckneyville murder defendant James Glazier a motion to waive his right to a jury trial and have the case heard before him starting on Monday, July 18 at 9 a.m.
The only difference between the two: defense counsel Tom Mansfield must make his case in front of one instead of 12. It is always the defendant's choice.
Glazier is a co-defendant in the 2010 death of Pinckneyville teen Sidnee Stephens. His trial had been scheduled to begin on Monday, June 11.
Judge Campanella granted Mansfield's motion on Monday. Final pre-trail issues will be taken care of on July 12 starting at 9 a.m.
Glazier is one of three defendants in the case. Defendant Carl Dane hanged himself in his Perry County Jail cell only hours before being transferred to an Illinois prison to begin serving his term.
The other is Robbie Mueller.
Glazier has never asked for a change of venue so Judge James Campanella will hear the case.
A total of three judges have been involved in his case since it began in 2010.
