Du Quoin on Boil Order After Break in Six-Inch Water Line
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Water pressure disappeared on much of Du Quoin's east side after a water main break developed in a six-inch main at the intersection of East Main Street and Peach Street late Monday afternoon.
The break was a block east of Du Quoin's downtown. The Du Quoin Water Department was quick to assemble equipment and personnel at the site. After jackhammering the top pavement away, employees dug down about 40 inches to the break, cleared the debris and bolted a stainless steel sleeve around the line.
Water pressure returned the middle of the evening and a boil order was expected sometime this morning. The entire town is under a boil water order until further notice.
