Rose pitched a shut out, and only allowed three hits in the contest. Murphysboro took the win at 11-0 in six innings.
DuQuoin's record is now 16-12 overall.
The rain delayed the game about twenty minutes, but play resumed as soon as it quit raining. Unfortunately for the Indians, there were two many walks, errors, and hits by Murphysboro to keep the game close.
Murphy only led 1-0 up to the fourth inning. Murphy scored six runs in the fifth to go ahead 7-0. The Devils scored 4 more in the sixth inning to win the game 11-0.
The winning pitcher was Rose who went all six innings, allowing no runs on three hits, had one walk, and eight strikeouts.
DuQuoin pitched three different players. Camdon Mercier started the game going 4 1/3 innings, allowing 7 runs (4 earned), on 5 hits, had 4 walks, and 1 strikeout. Mercier was the losing pitcher for DuQuoin. Jon Boss relieved in the fifth inning going 1 2/3 innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned), on 3 hits, and had 5 walks. Nate Boss came in the sixth inning to pitch to one batter.
DuQuoin committed three very costly errors in the game, while Murphysboro played perfect defensively.
The Indians had three hits, all singles. Nate Boss, Garrett Dorsey, and Dylan Pyron had those. Other Indians in the game were Kegan Robbins, Brenden Fred, Nathan Harris, Camden Youngman, John Erwin, and Travis Chapman.
Murphysboro's big hit came in the fifth inning. Mitch Maloney had a grand slam home run. Murphy scored six runs in that inning.
Coach Tim Craft was very subdued after the game. "One bad inning sunk us. We had a few mental mistakes, and too many walks to beat a good team like Murphysboro."
DuQuoin will try to improve on their record on Tuesday with a home game against Carlyle. Wednesday, DuQuoin will travel to Zeigler-Royalton-Christopher for a game.
