"I can not stress enough to these girls that you can not have five errors in a game and win," said EHS head softball coach Donette Wheatley. "We also have to hit the ball - we are not making much contact."
"(We) can not get them to break their old habits. It's tough to change them once they get to the high school level."
Two errors contributed to a run in the first for Trico, then Elverado starter Corrine Wilson issued a one-out walk in the fifth in front of a triple, an error, and a single. Trico led 4-0 before the Lady Falcons got on the board with one in the bottom of the sixth when Corrine Wilson singled and scored.
Wilson also started in the circle for Elverado, allowing ten hits and a walk, striking out eight. She added one of the Lady Falcons' five hits at the plate, finishing 1-3 with a run scored.
Erika Will (2-3), Meghann Trammel (1-3) and Tori Porter (1-3) had the other hits for EHS.
Elverado (10-9, 2-4) hosts Carmi on Thursday and Woodlawn on Friday.
