BASEBALL: Falcons edge Vienna 9-8

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Elverado took advantage of a hit batsmen, two walks and a two-run error at shortstop by Vienna in the bottom of the sixth to come away with a 9-8 victory on Thursday at Dowell with Eli Fennell tossing four innings of relief to pick up the win, allowing just two hits.

The lead changed hands four times over the course of the ball game, with the Eagles drawing first blood with a three-run first. The Falcons jumped ahead with two runs in the second and four in the third, but after four the game was knotted at 7-7. The Eagles got one in the top of the sixth before letting the lead evaporate in the bottom half.

Dalton Porter (2-4, RBI), who went the first three-plus innings on the mound, joined Fennell (2-4, RBI) with two hits at the plate. Casey Hicks (1-3), Collin Hester (1-3, RBI), Brian McClanahan (1-4, RBI) and Wade Bowlin (1-2) also hit safely for the Falcons against Vienna.

Elverado (9-11, 1-4) is at Chester on Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. matchup with the Yellow Jackets.
