BASEBALL: Indians crush Steeleville 15-1

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The DuQuoin Indians Baseball Team absolutely trounced Steeleville in a game held at Steeleville on Wednesday evening. The Indians defeated the Warriors 15-1 in five innings. The Indians are now 10-8 overall and 3-4 in the Conference.

DuQuoin took the lead early, scoring 5 runs in the first inning. The Indians scored one run in the second inning, seven runs in the third inning, and two in the fifth inning. Jon Boss hit a solo homer in the first inning, and later had a grand slam in the third.

The winning pitcher was A.J. Smith (3-1 record) for DuQuoin. Smith went all 5 innings, allowing one run (earned), 5 hits, gave up 3 walks, and had 8 strikeouts.

Every Indian in the lineup got a hit in this game, as DuQuoin pounded out 14 hits against Steeleville.

Austin Mansker was 1-2, Brenden Fred was 2-5 including a double and 2 RBI, Nate Boss was 2-2 with an RBI, Camden Youngman was 1-2, with 2 RBI, Travis Chapman was 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI, J. Boss was 2-2 (both home runs), and 5 RBI, Kegan Robbins was 1-2 with a triple, Camdon Mercier was 1-1, Dylan Pyron was 1-3 and Jacob O&#39;Rourke was 1-1 with an RBI.

Coach Tim Craft was elated at the victory and the hitting. "We did a really good job of being patient at the plate, and making their pitcher throw strikes to us. Jon Boss had a great day at the plate. A.J. Smith pitched really well, and we made the plays behind him."

The Indians will hope to carry this momentum into a home game against Pinckneyville (7-9, 1-5) on Thursday. Saturday, DuQuoin travels to Harrisburg for a doubleheader.
