Jordan Koenegstein got the victory in the pitching circle, going four-and-a-third innings and allowing two earned runs on six hits and a walk with one strikeout. Taylor Howard relieved in the fifth and no-hit the Lady Red Devils the rest of the way, finishing up with two and two-thirds innings pitched, no walks and one strikeout.

"We didn't have any one person stand out hitting," said PCHS head coach Mike Cheek. "Defensively it was the same thing, we didn't have anyone playing outstanding, everyone made their plays. Pitching went the same way, we just pitched. It was a real team effort today to win this game."

Dani Schoenbacher, Taylor Cheek and Shersty Stanton all singled in a two-run bottom of the first for Pinckneyville, and Howard doubled and scored on a grounder by Keelyn Stein in the second for a 3-2 Lady Panthers lead.

The big damage came in the fourth, when eleven Lady Panthers stepped to the plate in a seven-run inning. Schoenbacher, T. Cheek, Stein, Kaitlyn Sweeney and Gabby Doerflien all had RBI's in the inning for PCHS.

Schoenbacher (2-4, 3R, RBI), Stanton (2-3, BB, R, RBI) and Melia Bathon (2-4, 2B, R, RBI) each had a pair of hits for Pinckneyville. Also hitting safely for the Panthers were T. Cheek (1-3, BB, 2 R, 2 RBI), Howard (1-3, 2B, BB, 2R), Stein (1-3, R, 3 RBI), Jordyn Wieland (1-3, SAC, R) and Alyssa Hirsch (1-1).

The Lady Panthers (11-9, 1-7) hit the road on Thursday to face 21-1 Du Quoin.

"We've got to come to play with more enthusiasm, more energy (on Thursday)," M. Cheek said. "We've got to play with the belief that we can win. If we do those things, we've got a chance."
