Shawnee handcuffs Chester for first loss

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Chester Yellow Jackets suffered their first loss of the 2012 baseball season to the Shawnee Redskins 4-1. Chester&#39;s record now stands at 3-1.

Shawnee scored twice in the first inning on a well executed hit and run and a misplayed fly ball to get an early 2-0 lead. Shawnee&#39;s Aiden McMahan And Chester&#39;s Caleb Arbieter then hooked up in a pitchers dual until Chester broke through with a run in the third inning. The Jackets Brandon Young walked to lead off the frame and moved up on a bunt by Michael Meyer. Chris Schwartz delivered a two-out RBI single to close the gap to 2-1.

Shawnee sent eight batters to the plate in the fifth inning but only scored one run. A hit, a wild pitch and a walk put runners and a fielders choice put runners at the corners. A failed squeeze bunt was the second out but a single plated the Redskins third run of the game. After a infield hit, the Redskins hit a bloop single to left field where Arbieter threw out a Shawnee runner at the plate for the third out..

Chester had first and third in the bottom of the fifth only to leave them stranded. The Jackets left 10 on the bases on the day while striking out ten times.

Shawnee scored once in the seventh on two hits and two balks for the final of 4-1. Arbieter was the losing pitcher. Greg Rowald threw the last 2.3 innings for the Jackets. Arbiter and Boyd Miles each finished 2-for-3 on the afternoon while Schwartz finished 1-for-3 with a RBI.

" We just ran into a very good ball club today. We faced a pitcher that hit his spots ." said Jacket coach Jeremy Blechle.

Chester 8 Waterloo Gibault 5

Chester returned to the win column with a 8-5 defeat of the Waterloo Gibault Hawks. The victory moved the Jackets to 4-1 on the season.

The Jackets Casey Venable threw six-hit complete game for the win. Venable had four strike outs.

Chester scored four times in the first inning as Boyd Miles (RBI 1B), Venable (RBI 1B) and Daulton Misuraca (2 RBI 2B) had the big hits for the Jackets. They added a run in the third on Brandon Young RBI single.

After Gibault breached the gap with three runs in the fourth, Chris Schwartz connected for a two-run homer to give the Jackets a 7-4 lead. Schwartz added a RBI single in the sixth to expand the Jackets to a 8-4 lead.

Chester pounded out 12 hits with Schwartz(3 RBI), Misuraca(2 RBI), Heberlie,Venable and Young two hits apiece. Miles and Greg Rowold had a hit each.

Chester 9 Valmeyer 1

Chester improved their record to 5-1 after clubbing the Valmeyer Pirates 9-1. Matt Heberlie, who carried 3-hit shutout into the seventh inning, was the winning pitcher for the Jackets.

Chester jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Caleb Arbieter doubled to lead off for the Jackets scoring on Chris Schwartz RBI single. After a Boyd Miles single, Casey Venable had a 2-RBI single. Daulton Misuraca singled before Brandon Young added a 2-RBI single to account for the Jackets 5-0 lead.

Chester upped their lead to 7-0 with the help of errors by the Pirates and added their final two runs on a Venable 2 RBI single.
