DuQuoin immediately scored three runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead, and kept it throughout the seven innings. DuQuoin finished the game winning 6-2.

The DHS Softball Indians are now 17-0 overall, and 3-0 in the Conference race. This is without a doubt the best start in school history for softball.

Carterville scored their other run in the fourth inning, while DuQuoin scored three more in the third inning for a total of 6 runs.

Alexis Kohrs pitched another "money" game going all seven innings. Kohrs allowed 2 runs (both earned), on 5 hits, had no walks, seven strikeouts, one balk, one wild pitch, and one hit batter. Kohrs is now 9-0 on the season.

Carterville's Nora Jacobs started the game, and went 3 innings in the circle. She allowed six runs (two earned), 6 hits, had 1 strikeout, and no walks. Jacobs was the losing pitcher. Kaylin Dixon relieved in the fourth inning, going 3 innings allowing no runs, 2 hits and had one strikeout.

Carterville committed four costly errors in the game, while DuQuoin had another game with a stellar defense-- committing no errors.

The Indians had 8 total hits in the contest. Jessica Hirsch was 2-4 with a double. Kelsey Robinson was 1-3 with an RBI. Cassidy Rice was 1-3 with an RBI. Alexis Kohrs was 1-3. Hadley Marek was 1-3. Magen Edwards had a great day at the plate going 2-3 including a double, and an RBI. Aubrey Davis, Amanda Williams, Katrina Whitley, and Kate Toler (flex on defense) also were in the game for the Indians. Other team members are Jessy Wallace, Cassidy Hill, Hailey Stewart, Abby Myers, and Bailie Caldwell.

Carterville had 5 hits in the game. Kylee Rock was 1-3 with a double. Carly Callahan was 2-3. Amy Drust was 1-3. Megan Moon was 1-3. Carterville's record is now 9-6 overall and 1-2 in the Conference.

Coach Jason James had this to say about the victory, "Carterville came out and scored first, but then we settled in. Kohrs got in her grove. We took advantage of what they gave us. We were putting the ball in play, and making things happen. We got the job done, and we stayed focused. Pinckneyville on Monday--we will have to get after it!" Coach James is assisted by Jacob Emling and Lonnie James.

There is a home JV Tournament on Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. The Varsity plays at Pinckneyville on Monday, is at home on Tuesday with Nashville, and is at home on Friday with Anna-Jonesboro. All three games are important conference games for the Indians. The Indians must continue to make it happen, which is what winners do.
