</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[It was a tough day for the DuQuoin High School Baseball Indians as they took a loss from Freeburg 4-1. Freeburg has a 9-0 record for the season. The Indians are 4-5 on the season, and 1-1 in the Conference.
DHS trailed 2-1 in the sixth before a two-run homer by Freeburg over the wall in right extended the Midgets' lead to three runs.
Nate Boss was the starting pitcher for DuQuoin going two innings. Boss allowed one run (unearned), 1 hit, and had 2 walks. A.J. Smith relieved in the third inning, going 5 innings. Smith was the losing pitcher allowing 3 earned runs, 3 hits, had two walks, and 9 strikeouts.
DuQuoin had 5 hits in the game. Austin Mansker was 1-3. Camden Youngman was 2-3 including a triple. Travis Chapman was 1-2 with the only RBI. Camdon Mercier was 1-3.
Coach Tim Craft was obviously disappointed in the loss. "One bad inning in the field--besides that we played a pretty good ball game. The pitching was pretty good. We couldn't come up with hits with runners in scoring position."
DuQuoin plays at home again on Thursday in a conference game with Carterville. Saturday, DuQuoin plays a doubleheader at home with Eldorado.
