Pinckneyville Firemen Serve Up 700 Pounds of Fish Today

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville Knights of Columbus manager Alison Weatherford unlocked the K of C Hall at 6 a.m. this morning so members of the Pinckneyville Fire Department could begin their work to fry and serve 700 pounds of fish to area residents during their annual benefit Good Friday fish fry.

Alison has been manager of the K of C Hall for about a year and has done everything possible to help insure the success of the project. The fundraiser--which raises money for fire department equipment--has moved from the fire department to the K of C hall for the first time this year to allow for more parking and a larger dining hall. The K of C Hall annually serves fish between the first week of February and the last week in March as part of its own fundraising efforts.

"The firemen will use their own batter and seasoning," she said. Frying was expected to start just before 9 a.m. this morning with serving until 2 p.m. The dinners include coleslaw, baked beans and dessert as well. Alison is pictured with several hundred pounds of fish thawed late Thursday and early this morning for the fish fry.
