Liquor license ordinance approved by council
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[An ordinance designating the number of liquors licenses to be issued within the City of Chester was approved by the Chester City council for two newly created licenses.
The new licenses became the subject of creation when the Mayor announced that Larry Korando was interested in opening a bar and grill, and that a new Asian restaurant was going to be opening at Chester Center within two months.
The council approved the fire department recommendation to increase rural fire membership fees from $35.00 to $45.00 per year.
The council approved to transfer $50,000 from the Capital Project Fund to the Fire Protection Fund. They also approved to transfer $250,000 from the Natural Gas Fund to the General Fund.
The Beatification Commission was approved to advertise for a part-time employee for a flower/plant caretaker at the rate of minimum wage. The commission's request to purchase flowers for the city planters was also approved in the amount of $1,700. The Mayor's appointment of Marsha Rust was then approved by the council.
In the final action of the night prior to entering Executive Session, the council approved a bid, from Matt Young, for sale of police squad car. Young's bid was $649.25
The next regular scheduled city council meeting will be held on Monday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at city hall in the council chambers and is open to the public.
