CHS track boys sprint to win, girls track place second

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The track season open for the Chester Yellow Jackets at the CHS Track this past Friday afternoon. The CHS Boys won their side of the with a score of 238 points. The girls finished second, behind Red Bud (171), with 158 points.

The other boys team scores were Red Bud (73), Okawville (48), New Athens (47), Steeleville (27) and Waterloo (Gibault) (18).

The first place finishers for Chester boys were; Trent Eggemeyer won the discus with a toss of 99' 11"; Brad Bindel won the shot put with a toss of 38' 1/2"; Kyle Landon won the long jump (20' 11"), high jump (5' 8") and triple jump (41' 1 1/2"); Verne White won the 400 (:53.4); Zach Sternberg won the pole vault with a leap of 9'; Devin Valleroy won the 3200 with a time of 10:59 and won the 800 (2:20.1); Andrew Frazer won the 100 with a time of :11.5 and won the 200 (:24.3); Issaic Wingerter won the 300 hurdles (:48.3); In the relays, Chester won the 3200 (10:20.9), won the 400 (:47.9), won the 800 (1:43.1) and won the 1600 (3:57.8).

The next boys meet is March 29 at Nashville and at Sparta on April 2.

The other girls team scores were; Okawville (42), New Athens (35), Steeleville (28) and Waterloo (Gibault) (15).

The first place finishers for Chester girls; McKenzi Rucker won the long jump with a leap of 15' 8" and won the 100 (:13.7); Rachel Clendenin won the high jump with a leap of 4' 4"; Maribeth Lawrence won the triple jump with a leap of 28' 6" and won the 400 with a time of 1:06.0; Brandi Phelps won the pole vault (5' 6"); Sarah Bindel won the 100 hurdles with a time of :16.7 and won the 300 hurdles (:50.9); In the relays, Chester won the 1600 (Sarah Bindel, Alexandria Fedderke, Holly Hartman, Maribeth Lawerence) with a time of 4:45.0 and 800 relay (Rachel Clendenin, Alexandria Fedderke, Jenna Wingerter, McKenzi Rucker) with a time of 1:58.6.

The next meet is at Sparta on April 2.
