Wiederkehr, of Enid, Oklahoma spoke to students during their Theology class about the topic of human sexuality in the context of God's plan.
Widerkehr has been in Lutheran Ministry focusing specifically on youth and family for forty years. He ministers to people generationally, presenting on a wide variety of relational topics ranging from how to talk to your children about sex to plan your own funeral.
Christ Our Savior was happy to have Wiederkehr talk to students because of the Biblical perspective he was able to offer about this subject. The state of Illinois requires sex education to be taught to high school students, and Wiederkehr was able to approach this topic with holy scripture in a dynamic way.
Wiederkehr was able to engage the students in his discussion, and Principal Mr. John Christman wanted students to benefit from Wiederkehr's years of experience teaching in this area.
When asked about the workshop, sophomore Kyle Wandro replied, "I thought that he was a very good speaker on this subject. He knew what he was talking about and how to teach it to the students."
During his three day workshop, Wiederkehr talked about God's plan. He told students how their sexuality is a gift from God and He expects us to be responsible for it, which is why God instituted marriage into to His plan.
Wiederkehr was happy to speak to students about this topic. "I have always enjoyed teaching and the workshops that I do now are really just teaching." While in Southern Illinois, Wiederkehr also offered parent workshops at St. John Lutheran Church in Sparta on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
During his workshops, students were engaged in discussions and were even part of teaching illustrations.
Wiederkehr is connected to the organization We Are Living Stones, Inc and does a variety of presentations, including Bible study workshops and speaking to people about their finances.
Christ Our Savior Lutheran High School approaches its entire curriculum from a Biblical worldview and invites families to consider their values as they choose the school for their children. Christ Our Savior will be hosting an open house for the public this Sunday, February 26th, 2-4 p.m. Teachers, students and current school families will be available to guide tours and share information about the school.
