Two-vehicle accident claims life of Red Bud man
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Randolph County Sheriff's Department were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident in?Evansville that claimed the life of a Red Bud man.
Danny Randolph, 44, of Red Bud was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:36 p.m. Randolph was the passenger in a Chevy Blazer driven by Robert Cane, 36, of Red Bud.
According to the Illinois State Police the accident occurred on Friday at approximately 8:47 p.m. on Route 3 on the Evansville bridge. Crane's vehicle was southbound when it lost control, due to icy conditions on the bridge, and crashed into a IDOT snow plow that was northbound. The driver of the snow plow was Chester resident Richard Holley. The point of impact was to the passenger side of the blazer. The accident caused the blazer to land on top of the guard rail. The vehicle was titering on the rail when officers arrived on the scene.
Crane suffered major injuries and upon extrication from the vehicle was transported to Red Bud Regional and later transferred to?St. Louis University Hospital. Holley was not injured.
"Extrication was extremely difficult due to the fact of it being on the guard rail, "stated Randolph?County Coroner Randy?Dudenbostel.
Crane's vehicle sustained major damage was towed to Steibel's Auto Body & Collision Repair in Ruma. Holley's vehicle only had minor damage and was driven from the scene.
All individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
According to the Illinois State Police the accident is under investigation and arrests are pending.
Red Bud and Evansville Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
