Southern Illinois Women's Teen Conference
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Girls Living Exciting Experiences is the theme of the 18th Southern Illinois Women's Teen Conference. It will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at John A. Logan College in Carterville. The conference is designed to provide teen girls in grades 7-12 a day to learn more about their health and well-being in a relaxed, fun setting.
The opening keynote focuses on Safe Social Networking. Special Federal Officer, Dustin Lingle will show how easy it is for predators to take advantage of teens. He will offer tips on how to be protected from predators both on the Internet and in real life.
After the morning keynote, teen participants can attend two breakout sessions on a variety of topics including: self-defense and self-protection, healthy eating, make-up application tips, Zumba!, anger management, suicide prevention and more.
There are adult-only sessions for the parents and chaperones who attend. These sessions will focus on speaking to kids about sexuality, internet safety, and coping with angry teens.
Lunch and the afternoon keynote will follow. WSIL News Anchor and Founder of the Beauty Broadcast, Emily Eddington, will be the after-lunch keynote speaker.She learned early on about the importance of self-confidence, persistence and following your dreams and she will share her story. Just a few years out of college herself, Emily's story is one the attendees can relate to and hopefully use to make their own dreams come true.
