A traditional holiday meal was served by members of Post 3553 to a large number of employees, Board members, physicians, retirees and their guests.
The highlight of the evening was the awarding of the annual Israel D. Newmark Memorial Service Award, which this year was presented to Nathan Bartnicki, Information Systems/Clinical Coordinator in the hospital's Information Systems Department. Bartnicki began his employment at Memorial in May 2006. He is a Microsoft certified system engineer and holds a B.S. Degree in Electronics Management from SIUC. Bartnicki resides in DuQuoin with his wife, Debra and nearly-six-year-old daughter, Hanna. The couple is expecting their second child in May. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church in DuQuoin. In his leisure time he enjoys spending quality time with his family. His hobbies include shotgun and bow hunting and sporting clays. He enjoys off-roading and four-wheel riding. He is an avid Cardinals fan and also loves Blues Hockey. Bartnicki has restored his 1982 Camaro and enjoys participating in regional car shows.
In his presentation of the award, Dr. Allan Liefer, Chief of Staff at Memorial, stated, "The past year at Memorial has been a year of change. Obviously the rapid change from paper to computers regarding CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry) has dominated a great deal of time for certain employees. Though Nathan Bartnicki has worked at Memorial only a short time, he has made a tremendous impact in various areas of the hospital. He assists us all with the technicalities of our computerized world and he has been a key member of the CPOE committee, diligently working with the program."
Following the presentation, the crowd was surprised by Santa who enthusiastically visited with the guests.
After the awarding of attendance prizes, guests enjoyed taking part in photo booth activity and dancing to the music of XMC Mobile DJ (Troy Kueker).
