Visit historic Fort de Chartres

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Come catch a glimpse of the past! Visit historic Fort de Chartres as a small contingent of la Milice de Ste. Genevieve recreate the experiences of the colonists of the Illinois Country in the 18th century.

Beginning on Friday, November 25th, a grouping of some four to six families from the Milice will be in residence at the Fort through the holiday weekend. They will be enjoying a brief sojourn within the comfort and security of the Fort as they return to Ste. Genevieve from a journey to New Orleans. The fort has a fine stone bake oven and a large hearth which will be used through the weekend to provide meats and treats fro the re-enactors using regional 18th century recipes. Weather permitting, the inhabitants will engage in a number of outdoor activities including some informal shooting contests.

Regardless of the weather you will get a glimpse of life in one of the most important regions on the Mississippi 250 years ago.
