BASKETBALL: #204 Girls Tournament underway
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The DuQuoin Middle School Girls Basketball Team is in the District #204 Tournament this week. On Monday evening DMS played Sparta in the 6:30 game, falling 32-14.
DuQuoin was led in scoring by Andrea Morgan with 10 points. Emily Born had 2 points as did Brittany Clark. DuQuoin's record is 0-4 overall.
Coach Debbie Ritter commented: "We got off to a rough start. Sparta was hitting everything from the outside. We could not get anything to fall for us. Finally, in the fourth quarter, Andrea Morgan got some shots to fall and we got a spark. But it was too little, too late."
DuQuoin plays again on Tuesday against Chester at 5:15 p.m. and against Pink
<u>Other action at #204</u>
Tournament host Pinckneyville District #204 won their opening round game on Monday evening, taking care of TSJ 35-25 behind double-figure efforts from Taylor Smith and Sophia Keith.
Smith led the way with 12 points, Keith added 10, Torrie Carter 8 and Maggie Sanders 5. The Lady Tigers led 11-1 after one quarter, 21-4 at the break and 31-12 after three quarters of play.
Pinckneyville #204 meets Tamaroa-St. Bruno in Tuesday afternoon's first game at 4:00 p.m. then takes on Steeleville on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
Pinckneyville (District #50) was also victorious on Monday, defeating Chester. The Junior Lady Panthers face Sparta on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. and Du Quoin on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
