State Rep. Costello II Partners with Attorney General's Office for Senior Fraud Prevention Seminars
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ State Rep. Jerry Costello II (D-Smithton) is teaming with Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office on November 1 for Silver Beat Program presentations at the Marissa Macke Center and the Steeleville Senior Center. The program's purpose is to equip seniors with valuable tools to protect themselves from fraudulent businesses and scam artists.
"Too often, senior citizens and their hard-earned money are the targets of scams," Costello said. "It is important for citizens to be up to date with the latest ways to protect their finances. These seminars in Marissa and Steeleville will help them do just that."
The Silver Beat Program is an educational training program created by Attorney General Lisa Madigan to assist seniors in protecting themselves from con-artists and deceptive business practices. The programs will be held at The Marissa Macke Center, located at 815 N Borders Ave. in Marissa at 10:30 am, and the Steeleville Senior Center at 107 W. Broadway?Steeleville Senior Center at 107 W. Broadway in Steeleville at 1:00 pm. Staff from the Attorney General's Office will also present information about the Senior Medicare Patrol Project, health care fraud, and other types of financial exploitation.
Along with holding seminars to help seniors protect their finances, Costello has also partnered with Attorney General Madigan's office to introduce legislation that would combat the production of meth in Illinois.
