GOLF: Valentine, Brocaille lead Panthers to third at SIRR

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville&#39;s boys golf team followed up their season-low round on Friday with another solid showing on Tuesday, taking third place amongst the six Mississippi Division teams during the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference tournament at Stone Creek Golf Course in Makanda.

Nashville took home the team title behind medalist Chance Reuter&#39;s 76 along with two other golfers (Brock Wuebbles, Kyle Mueller) that tied for third with 79&#39;s. Nashville 324 total was sixteen strokes better than second place Carterville (340). A-J (365) was fourth behind the Panthers (356), and Du Quoin finished fifth (373) to edge out Sparta (375).

PCHS was led by senior Adam Valentine, who posted a round of 80 for his 18 holes, good for a tie for fifth place overall. Teammate Kyle Brocaille was seventh with his 81. Completing the Panthers&#39; total were Patrick Kovic (95) and Lee Wittenauer (100) while Michael Seifert (104) and Jordan Grissom (112) also took part.

For the Indians, Bradon Woodside&#39;s 88 was a team-best. One stroke back was Jacob Fisher (89), followed by Howard Kelly (96), Nolan Graham (100), Joel Vancil (135) and Austin Korbar (137).

Murphysboro&#39;s Drew Novara was the day&#39;s top shooter with a 74, playing with the Ohio Division golfers.

The Panthers have their final home golf match of the season on Wednesday when they host Sparta, Red Bud and Okawville at Red Hawk Golf Club.

The Indians are at the Anna-Jonesboro Invitational on Wednesday.
