Pinckneyville Business Partners Receive $78,000 in Tax Rebates
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Pinckneyville City Council Monday reviewed the annual TIF rebate agreements as computed by financial consultant Pat Kattenbraker. Five checks will be written out of the TIF account to reimburse businesses with development agreements from the 2010 real estate taxes. They are: Community Link- $10,261, Contempri Industries- $2,580, Graff's Tooling- $422, Perry Point Development- $58,464 and a $6,648 payment to the CDAP revolving Loan Account.
In other business, the council:
tabled discussion and action on a nine-year contract with Utility Service for maintenance on the city's three water towers at an approximate cost of $105,000 per year. Commissioner David Stone said he had some questions about language in the contract and would like to address it before placing the contract on file.
approved the purchase of a used truck for the utility department from Svanda in Sparta for $12,500 plus license and title fees.
approved the purchase of $4,295 in supplies to install chain link fencing around the sewer plant and Street Department. Commissioner Stone said he city already has the fencing and needs to install it for liability reasons.
granted permission for the Rural Heritage Museum to make repairs to and tile a ditch for approximately 345 feet in front of the museum. The work will be supervised by the Street Department and is expected to cost about $8,000. The Museum will pay for the improvements.
granted permission for St. Bruno Catholic Church to close the 200 block of North Sullivan Street from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 for a "trunk or treat" event.
agreed to close Ballpark Road during the Southern Illinois Junior High Athletic Association State Baseball and Softball Tournament on Oct. 1, 4 and 6.
heard from Treasurer Rick Reese that the city has spent $130,570 or 12.5 percent more on payroll in the first nine months of this fiscal year than was spent in the same time frame last year. There has been little change in the number of hours and overtime hours worked. Some of the additional expense can be attributed to back pay after contracts were approved. Commissioner Leonard Heisner said he would like to explore paying off some of the city's smaller loans to save on interest payments.
