VOLLEYBALL: Benton spoils PCHS home opener
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville's volleyball squad kicked off their 2011 home schedule on Tuesday night, opening with a loss to Benton 25-16, 25-17 at Thomas Gymnasium.
Lindsey Winter and Shannon Nehrkorn shared the team lead in kills for the Lady Panthers with 5 apiece. Haley Simpson had 3 kills, Danielle Bruns 2, Alexis Bigham 1.
Winter also led the team in blocks with 1 solo and 3 double blocks, Danielle and Denise Bruns each had a pair of double blocks, and Simpson had 1. Bigham led PCHS with 5 digs.
The Lady Panthers (1-6) take the court again on Thursday when they travel to West Frankfort. Varsity game time with the Lady Redbirds is set for approximately 7:30 p.m.
