GOLF: PCHS's McDaniel now 3-for-3
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Wednesday's golf outing at Okawville made it three matches, three times medalist for Pinckneyville's Heather McDaniel, as the junior shot a three-over 39 to claim a one-stroke win over Kaylyn Furhop (Okawville). All three of McDaniel's nine-hole rounds this high school season have been in the 30's.
The Lady Rockets were able to claim the team competition between themselves, the Lady Panthers and Breese Central with a score of 178. PCHS placed second with a total of 191, the Lady Cougars a distant third at 229.
The other three scores accounting for Pinckneyville's total came from Olivia Mathis (48), Brooke Heisner (50) and Sarah Carlson (54). Alexis Anderson (55) and Britney Thomas (59) also took park for PCHS (6-3).
The Panther boys had five golfers in the 40's, but still finished third behind Okawville (172) and Sparta (175) with a total of 181. Sparta's Charlie Cunningham took medalist honors with a 37 (+1).
Adam Valentine led PCHS (1-6) with a 42 (+6) and Lee Wittenaurer was second-best for the Panthers with a 46. Jordan Grissom, Patrick Kovic and Kyle Brocaille all shot 47 while Michael Siefert carded a round of 50.
Both squads are back in action on Tuesday with the girls hosting Carterville at Red Hawk Golf Club and the boys traveling to Benton to meet up with the Rangers and Massac County.
