Discover Chicago trip for 5-7th Grade Youth

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Fifth, sixth and seventh grade students throughout Southern Illinois will have the opportunity to "Discover Chicago" thanks to a unique effort from University of Illinois Extension and 4-H. Discover Chicago is three jam-packed days of fun learning in one of our nation's largest cities. Geography, history and science come to life for the students as they explore famous attractions in Chicago.

Those attending the October 8-10, 2011 trip will

- visit the Museum of Science and Industry and tour an actual Boeing 727 jet, explore the depths of a coal mine, and take a cross country train trip

- dine on a hearty four-course meal while cheering brave knights as they demonstrate their skills at Medieval Times.

- view Chicago from the John Hancock Center.

- see Sue, the world famous Tyrannosaurus rex, ancient, Egyptian mummies, and other awesome exhibits at the historic Field Museum.

- enjoy a wildly unique dining experience at the popular Rainforest Caf&#233;.

- be amazed by an incredible collection of aquatic animals from around the world at Shedd Aquarium.

All students who will be in the fifth, sixth or seventh grade during the 2011-12 school year are eligible for this trip. Youth do not need to be in 4-H in order to attend. Cost for the trip is $299 which includes admission to all attractions, lodging at the Embassy Suites Hotel, charter bus transportation, meals, a commemorative t-shirt, and insurance. Parents can accompany their children on the trip as a chaperone. The registration deadline is September 1, 2011, but space is limited.
