SOFTBALL: DMS's Bullar no-hits Sparta

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Jordyn Bullar pitched a beauty for DuQuoin Middle School Softball on Monday at Sparta. Bullar pitched her first no-hitter of the season and her third shutout in a row. DMS defeated Sparta 11-0 in five innings. Bullar&#39;s record is now 3-1 in the circle. DMS&#39;s record moves to 4-3.

Coach Jason James commented that, "Our pitching was very good. Jordyn is throwing well, and hopefully she can keep that going." Bullar pitched all five innings allowing no hits, no runs, had 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts in the contest.

DuQuoin had 11 hits in the game. Sydney Lewis was 1-3 with an RBI. Hannah Marek was 1-4 with an RBI. Jordyn Bullar was 1-4 with an RBI. Brittany Clark was 2-3 with 2 RBI. Grace Haney, as a pinch runner scored a run. Nikki Ridgeway was 1-3 with a double and an RBI. Harley Dearmond was 1-1. Avery Shivley was 1-1 with a double. Alaina Caldwell was 2-3, and Kat Robison was 1-2 with an RBI. Coach James was able to play his entire team. Other Warriors seeing action were: Timbra Mansfield, Alex Gossman, Sadie Day, Lindsey Feltmeyer, Emily Born, Taylor Gates, Savannah Tweedy, and Andrea Morgan was the flex on defense.

Coach James lauded his defense. "Our defense has been outstanding. We have had only one error in the last three games. Our hitting has been timely. We are driving in runs. We need to keep working hard. Good things are starting to happen."

DuQuoin travels to Murphysboro on Tuesday.

<u>DMS baseball rebounds at Sparta</u>

The DuQuoin Middle School Baseball Team rebounded from Saturday&#39;s loss, and took their revenge out on Sparta in a game on Monday. The team won big with a 14-4 score in seven innings. This brings DuQuoin&#39;s record to 3-3.

DuQuoin scored in every inning of the game. Two runs were scored in the first inning, three in the second, one in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings. The sixth had two runs scored, and the seventh four runs crossed the plate. Sparta&#39;s four runs came in the third inning with three runs scored and the seventh with one run.

DuQuoin had 18 hits along with the fourteen runs in the contest. Cole Hopkins was 2-5 with two RBI. Brock Bullar was 3-5. Tucker Kuhnert was 2-4 with an RBI. Ryne O&#39;Rourke was 3-5 including two doubles and 4 RBI. Braden Lee was 4-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Dalton Day had an RBI. Jordan Edwards was 3-4 and Trace Klein was 1-3.

DuQuoin&#39;s pitcher, Dalton Day, went the entire seven innings. Day allowed six hits on four runs (3 earned), had 15 strikeouts, and 3 walks. Coach Tim Craft thought: "Dalton was fantastic on the mound today. He completely kept Sparta off balance the entire game." Day&#39;s record is 2-0.

Craft also complimented his offense: "We really did a good job with runners in scoring position today."

DuQuoin travels to Murphysboro on Tuesday.
