GOLF: McDaniel pulls away for 4-stroke win at Nashville

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville junior Heather McDaniel cleared the rest of the field by four strokes to win medalist honors at the 2011 Nashville Girls Golf Invitational on Thursday, shooting a 37 (+1) to better Nashville&#39;s Shawne Rennegarbe in second place with a 41.

Rennegarbe&#39;s Hornettes claimed the team win, edging out Okawville by three strokes (169-172). The Lady Panthers were third (191) in the seven-team event that also included Carterville, Mascoutah, Centralia and Sparta.

McDaniel scored par on six of her nine holes Thursday at Nashville Municipal Golf Course to go along with a pair of bogeys and a birdie at the par-5 fourth hole, picking up right where she left off after a stellar summer season on the Southern Illinois Golf Association&#39;s Junior Tour.

Olivia Mathis (50), Brooke Heisner (51) and Alexis Anderson (53) completed Pinckneyville&#39;s score of 191. First-year players Britney Thomas (54) and Sarah Carlson (61) also competed for the Lady Panthers at Nashville, the season-opening event for the girls&#39; squad which is in its&#39; first season under new head coach Nolan Kellerman.

Up next for PCHS&#39;s girls (4-2) is a match at Herrin with the Lady Tigers and Harrisburg on Monday at 4:00 p.m. followed by a trip to Okawville on Wednesday to meet up with the host Lady Rockets and Breese Central.
